AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

It has happened! As of today I am officially the mother of a....a......I can hardly say it....Teenager !!!!

My sunshine boy is no longer a boy but a young man! I called him my sunshine boy because he is blond and always had a smile on his face surrounded by chubby cheeks and dimples and the sparkliest blue eyes ever seen! Like a ray of sunshine straight to my heart! Sigh....It is bittersweet for the moms of only children. Our jobs are to raise our child well and to rejoice at their achievements. Each milestone will be the only milestone we get.Only one first step, first loose tooth and riding a bike without training wheels. I am very proud of the young man he has become, but a little piece of me is sad never again to have a little boy. Well there are always grandkids, someday! Very far off someday !

You can do it! We got 2 boys through the teenage years and survived, sort of, but it was tough for a while. It was all worth it and it sounds like you have given him a good grounding in life experiences. Wait till you get to be a grand mother. That makes a person feel really OLD.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOY! I think being homeschooled and living on that farm would seem like every day feels like your birthday.

Somehow I missed the bunny rabbit post, they're so cute, I know, I know, they're for supper. :-)

IanH,
Thanks,I am relying on the fact he is a good country kid to calm my uncertainty !

Taxan,

Joanna,

That is why we do this to give him a good childhood!

Happy Birthday Sunshine Boy.
I know exactly how you are feeling. I have an only son. The other day I was getting pictures ready for his birthday post and a co-worker, while looking at them, said "What a rich childhood he had" I had never thought of that. You too are giving your boy a rich childhood.
Enjoy every moment...it flies by.

Happy Birthdays should go to the mother don't you think. Every word you say could be mine. One good thing about only male child farmer kids is that they tend to stay close to home when they grow up and marry. Let's hope this is true for us. As always insightful post. Happy Birthday to your young man too! Peace

Sorry gals but mine left 7 years ago, first to college in Calf. then to grad school in Colorado and I doubt he will ever live by me again. I didn't realize I was raising him for some other family to enjoy. So when your boys want to leave home tell them ok as long as they stay in the state:)Better start now while they are still young.

goatgirl,

Good advice,he is my only one ,I want to be close to my grand kids!We have always been pretty nomadic,he better be careful if he leaves,we may follow him!

Happy Birthday to your one and only! It is hard to see them grow up and go off, but it would be even harder if they stayed and remained little. Sure gives us lots of excitement watching all the new experiences and I believe you've done a wonderful job! For some reason..I don't think he is going to forget you, even while he gets busy when he's older. He sure looks and sounds like one good son!
