A New Day

First off I would like to say thank you to all the kind and wonderful support I received from all my bloggin' buddies out there. You all made me feel supported and good about my crazy decision! As I write this in the early and dark morning hours,SweetPea is sleeping peacefully in a crate in my room. She is in my room so the house dogs don't pester her and yes,it does make it smell like a barn in here! I don't mind at all, especially when I woke in the night and lay there listening to her slowly chewing, knowing she would be here in the morning and not beneath a wooden cross under the big oak tree, knowing the first thing The Boy would do when he wakes is run in here to check on her and take care of her.
Also I have to sing a few praise for Hubby. My Hubby is a tough man.He was in the militiary, then worked for the government as a civilian rebuilding missiles, now an oilfield worker.Mans man, tough as nails. If he hears the slightest stress or the beginning of tears in my voice he melts and will do everything in his power to make things right for me even after almost 19 years of marriage.Even silly, goofy things his tough man self may not understand,he understands my heart though.I wish everyone could have someone like that. When I talked to him from one of his layovers and he heard my voice all he said was don't worry about the money,I did the right thing in saving her.I love that man.
So this is my early morning update.I felt I needed to thank you all and let you know everything is going to be OK.Hope everyone manages to stay warm today!

So glad she's doing so well.
You know when it's right to save an animal and when it's not.

I am so glad you are feeling better this morning. I understood completely what you went through. You did the right thing because you have peace today and taught your son a valuable lesson. He will remember this when he has a wife and her heart is breaking and he will do just what his daddy did.
I think it may be harder in this day and age to make decisions about vet care. It is getting almost too expensive for people to provide care for their much loved pets.
I feel like , for me, the stress always comes from the worry about affording the vet bill. We recently had to put our beloved mini horse down because the alternative was a $6,000 vet bill. Talk about guilt! I still haven't paid off the vet bill from the two emergency calls that led up to putting him down.
Sweet Pea was the name of my first goat...40 years ago so I'm pretty partial to a little goat named Sweet Pea.
It is fairly common for a first kidder to have a big buck kid...I don't know why but it always seems to be a buck. Next time she will have a couple and they won't get as big. I , and all my goat friends, have had the same experience.
I'm with Pricilla, you will know when it's right to save an animal and when it's not. This time it was right.

Carolyn,

Thanks,me too!

Goatgirl,

I am sorry about your little horse, that must have been awful. We have not had to do that with any thing yet,but I know living on a farm,it will most likely one day happen.I agree vet services are getting expensive! Our vet in town is not like that, but I had never been to the vet we too SweetPea too,I just had to chance it.

Oh my, I am crying. I am happy for you as I know what it is like to have a wonderful man for a husband. My husband, Tim would have responded the same way. I am glad to hear that Sweet Pea is inside.
