Betsy May Not Be Much of a Looker....

The old girl may not win any tractor beauty pageants but she is smooth running and full of get up and go! Most importantly, Ole Betsy, is ours! We finally have a tractor!

Everyone knows tractors will last forever, so there was no way we were going to spend a fortune on a new one, so we have been waiting to find a good deal on a used one and ,well, Ole Betsy is pretty used!

I don't care, she is a good ole gal and I have lots of plans for her! Betsy and me,were going to be friends!

She is a little rusty, nothing bad, and has a sad eye.A new headlight will give her some sparkle!

She didn't have a seat but, on the way home, Hubby stopped and got her a brand new one!

He and The Boy are out in the shop giving her a few TLC adjustments...

and Hubby is building a hay spear for the back of her. No more rolling those huge bales of hay around! I'm getting too old for that kind of stuff!

We had to drive a long way to get Ole Betsy. One of Hubby's friends,a fellow China worker, gave us a great deal on her so it was worth the drive. He even let us use his trailer to bring her home on because ours was too narrow.

So here's to easier days in our future on Laughing Duck Farm! Welcome Ole Betsy, you've found a home!

ahh...I agree on the addition of that piece of equipment.. You won't know how you got along without it after she has helped you out on all sorts of occassions. I get a case of tractor envy every now and then when a big one goes by moving those big bales. My little skidster works its heart out but sometimes I think I push the limits.
Nice find on the tractor!!!

Oh the thought of rolling giant hay bales is atrocious! Yeah for Ole Betsy. I am sure she is more than welcome on your farm. :)

She may not be much of a looker ... but, she looks pretty good to me! I could dream of all sorts of things I could do with a tractor or even a skidster. So many of the things I do by hand would be so much easier! Enjoy Ole Betsy!

I think Bestsy is absolutely beautiful, you must be having one of those great happy moments of satisfaction just seeing her parked there. I had that feeling when I finally got my horse trailer.

Life on the farm will sure be easier now. Does not matter what it looks like as long as it gets the job done. Have a great day Rebekah.

Now that is a real tractor! Wheel it inside when you decide to give it a rest and apply a little elbow grease and a coat of nice bright paint and you will be surprised at how good she looks! I've seen a few 30+ year old tractors that look as if they just came out of the factory. Enjoy!

What a cutie!
I love old tools, tractors, furniture-anything with some character to it, just like Betsy.
We are right now looking for a tractor ourselves and hoping to find a great deal on one before we get to the point where we desperately need to mow. For the last few years we have used a combo of our smallish mower and hired friends with tractors to come mow the fields for us, but no more!

Betsy may have been "around the block a few times" but she is very photogenic and she knows hard work unlike the new, shiny gals.

Awwww! Congratulations on giving Betsy a new home! My lady used to drive a tractor named "Putt Putt"! The old 'uns are the best 'uns!

betsy is a gem. you know what they say about new farm equipment? you can always tell someone who has just started farming by the fancy equipment they have!!! you should do what my gardening friend did to her old pickup truck. she painted flowers and watering cans and garden scenes all over the entire truck. it is the coolest truck ever!

This ole gal knows her way around the fields and all the good pottering places. She will surely do you right.

This post made me smile -- big time. We have a tractor, too. It just blew a gasket, so hub has been searching for parts!
