Thanksgiving Babies and ...

the last breath of Summer...

First thing Thanksgiving morning Weed Whacker, the sheep, had her babies..here is baby # 1 in all his gooey glory!

I couldn't help this picture, just look at the size of that bag!

As soon as Weed Whacker started talking to the little fellow the whole flock came over to see him!

They just  stood there, greeting him..letting him know he is part of their little family!

Charger lamb sat baby # 1 as Mom  took care of baby # 2 ...

Charger is a very good Dad!

Here are the new boys all dried off, one has short ears like Weed Whacker and one regular ears like Charger! Other than the ear thing they are almost identical!

Summer has breathed it last breath. A cold front has come in this afternoon! We were at 80* and high humidity ...uggg..so not the way this time of year is supposed to feel!  It may freeze tonight but if it doesn't it will tomorrow for sure so I went out and got all my green tomatoes and the last of my peppers and a handful of purple hull peas.

I had a lot of green tomatoes! Too bad they didn't ripen but I won't let them go to waste, nope! There are lots of things to make with them  the hard part is just going to be deciding what!

This is a picture of my one calendula plant, the flower almost doesn't look real it is so vivid

Melodie, cute kids. Just curious, what type of goat is Charger, and how old?

Ian,
Charger is a big horn type sheep, an American Blackbelly and the girls are Painted Desert sheep. Charger is going on 3 years old.

Congratulations on the Thanksgiving babies! They are beautiful. We had our first day of not getting above freezing. The winter is finally here. Your calendula is beautiful!

Charger is a handsome boy.

We brought in pounds and pounds and pounds of green tomatoes. It took a couple of weeks but they do turn red in boxes.

Oh what a cold and brisk day for the babies to arrive! I hope they will stay warm on their first night 'outside'. Thanks for those sweet baby pix! :)

The twins are very pretty little things! Nice "harvest time special" for you! Um, Weed Whacker, very feminine name there, LOL. I often wonder where people come up with their goat names, they can be quite unique!

Getting rain and front starting to come though, but only part way, I would almost believe sleet in the morning if the clouds are still around.

Have a good night!

What lovely little sheep babies! I like that everyone came running over to see and were so gentle! It's very nice that they have different ears!

What a wonderful way to enjoy Thanksgiving! What gorgeous sheep too and so sweet of that Daddy...now I HAVE to go do a little research on that type of sheep. They look like my kind of animal!

I believe we all agree -- Charger is glorious. The kids are adorable and I'm so glad the rest of the family approves! Looks like mama has plenty of milk for the both of them. What a lovely Thanksgiving surprise for you and your family. :)

Very fun post to see those wee ones and the whole goat family. Drying off sure makes a goat look different. Fabulous flower!

Oh, WOW!! How cool is that to have going on in your yard! And I think tadpoles turning into frogs is way cool--sheesh. Those are lovely lambs and I like how Dad watches while Mom tends to the newborn baby! Awwww. So very sweet!

Two babies is a great way to end the summer (?). I laugh a little since we just had three days of hard frost and my mexican sage is dead. Burnt, dried leaf dead. And you still have veggies to harvest...

sounds like Christmas morning, huh?
Same here, 80s over the weekend and I have been making green tomato relish like a crazy woman. Peppers, tomatoes and eggplants needed to be dealt with before the frost, which i hear is on the way soon.
