Quilty Projects with Texan

My buddy Texan and I have started a sewing project together! She posted her progress yesterday so I figured I would show you all mine too! It is funny because the two of us think alike so much, she said she was thinking of the dredson plate pattern lately and I said"Me too!" Insert Twilight Zone music here! So we decided we should do one! Though we are doing the same pattern our quilts are not exactly the same. I decide I wanted to do mine in vintage 1940's fabrics and this is what I have so far....

Of course the plates have no center yet...and it will be a loooong time before I get it finished because I am hand sewing this project, I am not as handy with the sewing machine as Texan is especially when it comes to things like machine applique! Mine will be smaller as my bed is only a full size and hers is king! Maybe that will even the time a little !

The boy likes me to watch TV with him in the evenings so I usually sew or knit during this time.I don't usually make a lot of progress in one night but a little here and a little there and eventually I will get it done...if I don't get distracted by another project! Taking on this project with a buddy helps keep me motivated, we see each others progress and are inspired! Wish it worked that way for housework too, lol!

Nothing like a little healthy competition (er, inspiration) to keep you motivated. :) It looks great!

Whoa, more power to you for hand sewing. I couldn't either machine or hand sew that beauty.

I love the vintage 1940's fabrics. Wish I knew how to quilt, I adore quilts, the only bedding/blanket things I have around.

Love that pattern, it will be gorgeous when you are finished. Cannot even imagine sewing that all by hand!

I can't sew, but admire those who are as good at it as you and Texan are. Go girls!

How beautiful. This is one of my favorite quilt patterns My Grandma Perry used to quilt and she did many in this pattern. One she did for me was in yellows and oranges on a white background and I loved it so much. I admire you for quilting and by hand? Wow!

Ooooh, it's lovely! I like to hand quilt, so I understand how long it takes you. I'm not big on using the machine for quilting. It just isn't the same.
