The Donkey Days of Summer

Many of you know Clyde. He is half of the Dirty Donkey Duo, Bonnie and Clyde, that live here on our farm. Clyde is actually a white donkey, most of the time you can't tell this fact about him! His favorite past time, besides treats,is rolling!

Clyde-Hyde,as we so affectionately call him , is a non- recovering treat-aholic.You can  read about poor Clyde's addiction here.

He will always come up,no matter how far out in the pasture, lookin' for  his treats! He enjoys a good scratchin' too! I think Donkeys are a little like goats in the fact that they are born itchy! They love to get scratched!

His big ole rubbery donkey lips start flappin' looking for more treats!

This is Clyde-Hyde's look of " I don't believe you don't have any more treats woman!"

He gives me a few big sniffs, just to make sure I am not holding out on him!

Then he resigns himself to some good ole head scratchins'!

Really ,who couldn't love that sweet , homely ,dirty donkey face!

Donkies!!!!!!Love em.
Trying to convince hubby that we need one.
So help me out here-what does one use donkeys for?
And, most importanly-is it true that they don't get along with large dogs?

Clyde is most handsome! (Frizzy haired lady's father has two rat terriers named Bonny and Clyde) There's nothing wrong with a little dust bath!

Cheers!

The wonder Double-Up/Panini Grill has arrived safe and sound! It is wonderful! I am doing the clean up thing and then will prepare - sirloin burgers w/ squash, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions! Yummers!

Thanks again, great giveaway gift, and I appreciate it!

Our neighbour had a donkey for a while. Same thing, loved to be skritched!

Oh, Clyde and I would be suckers for each other. I'd be bringing him treats and he'd be whoring for them. He is adorable--I couldn't resist!

ewwww I am thinking I neeeeeed a donkey too ... can Bonnie and Clyde have a little donkey? How fun would that be!!!

Melodie said...

Thanks everyone!

Texan,
Sadly no...Clyde is a gelding. If he wasn't we would definitely have a baby donkey and probably a baby mule too since Clyde also loves the horse, Sweetie!

Yes, he looks fun! The burro/donkeys we have in AZ all have crosses on their backs, I think that's the biggest reason my husband wants one. Jesus rode in on a donkey-no such thing as coincidence!

I love Donkey's. Your is a cutie. \

I must share with you that I have this one Rooster that everytime I do something silly or trip that rooster laughs at me. It happens everytime immediatly after I trip or have a blonde moment. Is this how you came up with Laughing Duck Farm? I sometimes catch my ducks laughing.

Melodie said...

Barbara,
Yes that is exactly how we came up with the name! Our ducks laugh often and loudly!

Clyde looks like a sweetie! He looks like he's got as long and skinny of a head and face as my Beau does. It's fascinating to me the many different "builds" a donkeys can have. My Chester is small, compact, perfectly proportioned (and a brat, but that's beside the point, lol) to Beau's huge, long, skinny, enormous ears - Beau looks like somebody grabbed ahold of either end and streeeeetched him. :-)
Do you know how many hands high Clyde is?
I wish we all lived closer together - it would be a tremendous amount of fun to have a "Donkey Day" where we could all get together with our beautiful donks, don't you think?

I want a donkey *so* bad; what a cutie! :D

Well, having two equines myself, I know all about "treat-aholic" anonymous. I can not enter the horse's field without being mobbed, even though I rarely bring goodies. It must be genetic.

Gee, now I want a Donkey. I wonder what Sophie (my dog) would think?
