The Birds

The flocks of Starlings  love to visit the big oaks around the house....all day..everyday. They are noisy and they make the acorns rain down. It really sounds like  hail hitting the roof of the shed and house!  And,let me tell you,it hurts to be rained on by acorns! You can also hear at the end of the second one a Banshee screaming. It really is not the Banshee even though I think it is probably close to her horrible wailing. It is just  Zippy in heat. Yes folks, that is the music of the barn yard these days, sounds of horror movies! I guess I am a day late and a dollar short  for a Halloween post! Oh,I forgot to add the howling of the coyotes every night but I don't have any videos of those! So enjoy my real life version of The Birds....

Call me crazy but I liked it : ) Guess I was wishing I could gather them.

That is actually pretty cool...I didn't know they disturb those acorns that much. I see gobs and gobs of blackbirds that swarm the sunflower fields and milo fields this time of year. I just saw a video of something called bird murmuration that some girls videoed while kayaking..its amazing! Makes me wish I knew more about birds and their patterns now. What do you do with all those acorns??

You'd better get a hard hat to wear outside!

Michaele,
I kind of like them too!

DebH,
I saw that video this morning too! The acorns are tiny from those types oaks so I don't know of anything to do with them...

I'm sure the squirrels are happy!
The starlings don't gather here.
They did in NJ and the telephone wires would be black with them. It was amazing

You forget how amazing sound is. We now know exactly how is sounds and can appreciate some of the frustration. I did catch the Zippy howl and the very end. The second time I listened.

Thanks for sharing.

Send me your acorns!! I don't have any here and my squirrels LOVE them when I mooch them off friends.

I like starlings too--they are such wacky singers, aren't they? They mimic all kinds of sounds and can be so darn LOUD!

It's crazy noisy around here too. The geese can make you go deaf. I've been trying to get Boeris yelling on video, but the geese keep drowning out his yell. Get some earplugs, girl!

I think Jill's idea is best. Get a hard hat. ;-)
Don't know how to get rid of them. I think they are problems lots of places now. (Them and crows, blackbirds, or grackles.)
Have a safe day! :)

I think your videos have more impact than my photos of the blackbirds that flew through a couple of weeks ago. :)
