Sewing

Well, as most everyone knows ...it is hot!  So there is not much farm happenings to talk about these days. I have been doing something new though....

Yep! I have been making pillow cases! OK ,so far it is just one pillow case...  but it is my first and I have to say a big ole thank you to my blogging sister TEXAN, who has done a great job at not only teaching me how to make these but inspiring me to get back to sewing! My friend has talent with the sewing machine let me tell you! She used to sew professionally and she knows some pretty nifty tricks!

My next challenge, after I finish the other pillow case, is to make matching dust  ruffles! These are for the spare room...it has 2 antique  iron twin beds in there. So yeah,if you visit me and you are married you have to sleep like Lucy and Desi !

I love my old beds, one was mine that I slept on as a child that came from my great grandma ! I don't have many family treasures like that!   So, even though it is too hot to do much work around the farm I have no shortage of things to keep me busy in side in the blessed air conditioning! I tell you what ...if I was a pioneer and I came to this baking hot state in the summer...I would have loaded up my covered wagon and headed north! Oh well, that is just me,a lot of folks love the heat...! So here's to great friends with great talents that they don't mind sharing and to air conditioning! I hope you all are staying cool!

Pretty pattern for pillow cases! Looks like you do very nice work! Sewing is a good pastime when it's so terribly hot! Yah, if I was a pioneer, and had the money to keep on, keeping on, I would not have stayed here. This is the worst summer!

I love the ruffle and you are on a great roll here. It's amazing how easy the pillow cases really are once you have made one. I made a few for the kids and was really happy with the results. :)

Good for you too!

What a lovely pillow case! The ruffle is fabulous!!! This time of year turns my thoughts toward the pioneers, too, particularly my family who would have come to tx before air conditioning. It is hard to fathom.

I imagine you could turn it into a little side hobby and make some money if you wanted to and had the time. :)
