Who Bit My Squash!!!

These are two butternut rogosa squash I picked yesterday. I couldn't find a ruler so I used an egg carton so you could judge their size!

What is that, you ask, on the bottom one? Could those be bite marks?

Yes,yes they are. What really aggravates me is they are not MY bite marks! Who then broke down the fence and ate all the vines and even tried to eat the big squash?

Do they look innocent?

Don't be fooled by their sweet faces! They are just fooling you, they are guilty, guilty I tell you! These are actually old pictures, the babies are almost grown now,but it is way to hot to go out and get new ones!

I had a great patch going,I had at least a dozen smaller squash in there. There was another big one but some poultry pecked it up good.I am suspecting a Guinea since I found a Guinea egg in there with the squash! I swear the critters have gotten more of my garden this year than me! Especially the squirrels ! I have put hits out on them and they are thinning in numbers!

Hmmm...I wonder how lamb and squash would taste or maybe squirrel and squash????

Squash Stealers!!! Ugh : )

Our precious chickens were in the garden pecking around. I was sure they were getting the pesky bugs. Later that day, we went to get some of the eggplants off the plant. 2 were nibbled on!!! Eggplant Eaters!!! Life on a farm, JOY!!!

Frustrating to say the LEAST!!! Goat stew with squash might be just the thing. Is nothing safe from the horde?

I knew as soon as I saw the marks that it was a goat criminal!
Because, I too have seen these marks on MY squash!!! I had a few acorns growing in the goat field, undisturbed, until someone decided to see what they tasted like.

OMG Melodie this cracked me up!! I have had 4 pumpkins stolen by raccoons, just as they get to golf ball size. Right now, I have one...and it is protected by a "box cage" I made from window screening. It is my first pumpkin this year to survive to softball size. I so feel your pain!

With so many mouths around your place it is a wonder you have anything left in the garden.

uh oh... I had a feeling you were going to say it was them or the goats! The moles have been my biggy this year! They ate the roots off many squash plants and killed them and the plants had squash on them! Wonder what is about squash? LOL

Great set of photos! My dogs get that exact look on their faces when they've done something they shouldn't have; they act as though the rules are such a huge affront/imposition that they can't POSSIBLY be expected to abide by them.
