Watermelon

Every critter loves watermelon! This is a Cuckoo Maran and her Buff Orpington chicks....

I put these rinds out by the coop ...I guess grass will probably never grow in that spot anymore !

I think my Hubby averages a watermelon a day so the chickens and their crew never have to wait long for some juicy rinds!

The rest of the chicken yard, which Hubby said is about a quarter acre, is lush and green like this.

I though you all might like to see Crazy Daisy and the Quacklings again!

I am going to be out of blog land for the rest of the week...I got a houseful of Hubby's kin coming for a visit!

My first thought when I saw the chickens at the watermelon ..... "Belly up to the bar, boys!" (it's an old song from some movie). Love the ducklings in a row!

Bless you, relatives.....

I love those ducklings! Aw, gees, they are CUTE. Is that a new guinea hen?? I didn't know they all ate watermelon. Ah, the stuff you learn.

I saw "watermelon" in the title and had to visit your blog. I have been nicknamed "watermelon lady" by the produce manager at our local grocery story and "watermelon mama' at home. Wish we lived near ya as the chicks would be eating rhine everyday of the year :)

Ducks in a row-too funny Tina! We give our watermelon rinds to the goats cuz they eat the whole thing. Our chickens just peck what red stuff is there and leave the rest.

Kelly,
our poultry eat almost every bit if it...sometime they leave a skin thin piece...

Love the pic of Crazy Daisy and her ducklings. I also give my flock watermelons. I can purchase them from a local farmer that grows them for one dollar. Well worth it considering how much they love them. I did out the middle for myself giving them the rest.

Hope you have a wonderful time with your Kin Folk.

our chickens adore watermelon rinds too, but the goats won't touch them, the buttheads.

I hope you have a good with your family. I wonder why the ducklings line up like that. Not even human children do that. Hmmm...

My mom made my chickies and duckies and peafowl happy with watermelon the other day. It is a treat! I love the blue swedish ducks. They are one of my favorite kinds. Have fun with the relatives.

I have been giving my girls watermelon as well. It is a perfect hot weather treat for kids, and then the chickens finish it off. Mine don't eat beyond the pink stuff!
