Toads,Tiny Frogs and Evil Wieners

Look what, or maybe I should say who, I found in  my tomato seedlings! Can you see him? He thinks he is hiding!

Toady has made himself right at home in there!

Maybe he is hiding from Weenie on her endless lizard search! He doesn't have to worry, Weenie has learned the hard way about toad licking! Toad pee makes dogs foam at the mouth for anyone who didn't know! Now tiny frogs are another story! Weenie has these urges to kill...everything she can. Not eat them, just kill them and bring their cold bodies to rest on my bedroom floor....nothing like stepping on a cold, dead lizard corpse in the middle of the night!  Anyway...where was I going with this...oh yeah...tiny frogs! The only creature Weenie doesn't feel the need to wipe from the face of the earth are tiny frogs. If she finds one  she will catch it and keep it safe in her mouth and bring it in side and release it in the house...maybe she wants a tiny frog house pet? I have given up on trying to figure out the mind of this deranged  little  mixed weenie dog! She was my sons little boyhood best friend....that is probably the only thing that has saved her these last years....she has committed some pretty serious dogie crimes...

So our friend Toady is safe in more ways than one...she won't chomp him or kidnap him either!

Hmm...I wonder if I can but toad pee and spray it on everything Weenie likes to chomp! Don't send me links to buy toad pee,I was just kidding! She is confined to the house and the containment field of the back yard where she can only stalk lizards and occasional tiny frogs!

Awe! She is cute and brings you presents. What a good dog. We are adopting a dog today. My boys are so excited. It took me a couple of months to find one that was just right for both our boys.

I have seen the foam thing with Toads. It is quiet gross to say the least. Can't blame a dog for being a dog.

Good Morning,
Mal

It's the breed. Our Sophie should take lesson's from Weenie, lizards and tiny frogs would be easier to deal with then squirrel's, try getting a really pissed off one of those back out of the house.

Haha. She thinks she's providing for you. Cats do the same.
Maybe she thinks you need bug control in the house. :)

What?! You don't like a carpet made from dead lizards?

Didn't know the foam at the mouth thing - good to know. (with Jill and her habit of eating and killing lizards, mice and moles)

You had me laughing, I wanted to see pics of you trying to collect toad pee! Too bad...

How sweet, Weenie brings you gifts, our cat used to do that. (Not DC, she makes friends with 'em)

We have a toad the sleeps behind the feed buckets-the same place our rabbit sleeps so I call it hooper hollow!

That's so funny. The toad looks quite happy; it must know it's safe. I have more problems with the cats bringing me presents-twelve line ground squirrels, snakes, frogs...

Great post! I think the toad feels the coolness of the damp soil in the pot. Weenie is an interesting dog... I'm sure she keeps life interesting for you!

Thank you for the kind words at my blog, it has been challenging but I am trying to see it all as a chance for a fresh new start where I get to decide where to go from here.
I love toads, great picture!

Oh goodness what a toad! And your doggie cracks me up! My dog (who looks similar to yours only is a chihuahua mix but same color and similar ears) is a bit fraidy cat and just barks at stuff.

Kota has yet to learn, he still gets to foam at the mouth... LOL

I hate when the turkeys find a frog and "pop" it

I hated getting "presents" from the cat. She is a cute little doggie.

Oh she is so cute though. I do understand though cause we have a naughty blue heeler her and she is the sons best friend so she gets away with alot. Have a great night. Rebekah

Melodie, Weenie is quite the dog! Cute, I guess. The toad probably knows it is safe. She'd be teaching my Sophie lots, I bet.

behind on catching up with what all you are doing. My morning glories and moon flowers have decided to start blooming, just in time for the Texas August 102 plus weather to hit and the morning only get down to 80. My tomato plants are looking a little punie, moved them since they are in a pot to a more shaded area, hope that helps. weenie is just showing that she loves you by bringing you her love gifts, remember you saved her when her first owner did not take care of her.

Weenie seems like quite the dog! Didn't know about the toad/dog foaming mouth thing. Sounds very unpleasant for both!

Wienie dogs were bred to hunt, so maybe that is what she is doing. And maybe the little frogs are really just escaping Wienie Dogs teeth and that is the only reason they are surviving. Who knows??
It's just hilarious that she brings them IN the house. I'd have to kill her. But I would thank her first.

I don't know where to find toad pee, but I do know where to buy coyote pee! ;)

That's one cute toad! Makes me smile when I find them around the yard hiding under cool stuff. That doggie!!! She's a wee bit naughty. And you've done some efforts in containment.

Such a sweet toad--and it'll catch bugs for you!

I had to laugh because I found a peeper in my pepper seedlings this spring: http://ozarkhomesteader.wordpress.com/2010/04/03/where-did-that-come-from-surprise-in-my-seedlings/
